Kindergarten - Year 2

Early Childhood Education comprises classes from Kindergarten through to Year Two. At Langford Islamic College we offer a comprehensive and innovative education aimed at developing the intellectual, social, physical and emotional development of each child. We are committed to the wellbeing and care of the individual in a safe, supportive environment where excellence is encouraged and risk taking pursued. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Western Australian Kindergarten Curriculum guidelines and the Western Australian Curriculum underpin all our programs.

We believe that high quality Early Childhood Education leads to lasting intellectual and social benefits which persist through adolescence and adulthood. Our Early Childhood education program aims to be flexible, by contributing to the child’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth.

The Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classrooms aim to provide a range of opportunities for your child to enhance their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.  Our aim is to make your child’s first contact with school a happy and satisfying experience, which will help to establish positive attitudes to learning. We aim to encourage the development of your child’s confidence, concentration and social skills, to foster their imagination and creativity and help build their self-esteem. By providing a rich variety of experiences, we feel the Pre-Primary year will help to form a broad base on which to build your child’s formal learning. These include, amongst others, experiences that are open-ended to allow children an opportunity to explore, create, change, build, construct, discover and investigate for themselves.

Pre-Primary is a fundamental part of a child’s whole development and is a compulsory year of school. Pre-Primary furthers their start in Kindergarten and is one of their first steps away from home to an environment where children develop their socialisation skills with their peers and form concepts about themselves as social beings, thinkers, languages users and most importantly, develop feelings of self-worth. As each child develops and progresses along the developmental continuum at different rates, we employ a balanced approach in providing opportunities for all children to progress from their present stage of development. Our program aims to provide stimulating and appropriate learning opportunities for young children based on the Australian National Curriculum areas with an awareness also, of the importance of structured play.
